Norman Wells Oil & Gas

KBL was retained by one of Canada’s largest oil and gas firms to manage hazardous waste generated at their remote Norman Wells operation. KBL’s understanding of the unique challenges faced when working in remote settings in addition to our proven abilities to manage both logistical and environmental constraints presented by unique waste streams ensured KBL delivered on-time and on budget providing economic efficiencies.

Diamond Mines

KBL is the preferred waste management service provider the operating diamond mines in the NWT. We have serviced many of our mining clients from the exploration phase through to development and full-scale operation. Our northern grown operations and staff translates into a thorough understanding of the operational challenges faced by those working in this unique geographical setting. KBL has supported Ekati Diamond Mine operations since 2008 with the provision of on-site waste management services and waste management operations personnel stationed at Ekati. We also managing all the seasonal (winter road) transport and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from the Ekati’s operation.

James Creek Spill Clean-up

KBL was retained to oversee the remediation of a large diesel fuel release at a Dempster Highway transportation maintenance facility. Personnel had to overcome logistical challenges of mobilizing people, equipment, and supplies, and the environmental challenges of working in proximity to a waterbody. The scope of work included site investigation, contaminant delineation, sediment and erosion control during creek investigation and site works, excavation, transport and disposal, final reporting and post remediation groundwater monitoring.

Hopebay Sealift

KBL provided the remote gold mine with onsite staffing and waste management services. This project highlights KBL’s ability to provide a turnkey waste management service for mining clientele. Services provided include onsite management of all waste material generated in addition to transportation and disposal of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste through a combination of flying waste material offsite and a sealift backhaul from the mine to various ports in Quebec.
