Jeff is a visionary leader, continually seeking new opportunities for the organization through identifying industry needs, emerging markets, and assessing new technologies or concepts to provide unique solutions to service industry needs.

Mike Erickson

Chief Operating Officer

Mike has recently surpassed 25 years within the Environmental and Industrial Services Industries, servicing full cycle Oil and Gas, Mining, Chemical, Manufacturing, Government/Institutional and general Industrial clientele across all regions of Canada.

Mike’s experience has been progressive, beginning as a laborer within a Hazardous Waste Transfer Station and progressing through as Field Services Technician, Sales, Project Management, and Operations Management as both GM and multi-business Director, ultimately becoming an Executive leader.

In the 10 years prior to joining KBL, Mike has served as Vice President within two well-known multinational publicly traded corporations, overseeing an array of operations.

Mike has had accountability for Operations and Sales Teams offering the following services:  Industrial Cleaning, Specialty Industrial Services, Emergency Response, Environmental Services (Reclamation/Remediation, Environmental Construction, Demolition, ARO projects and Consulting), Scrap Metals Recycling, Waste Services and Waste Facilities, Filtration, Fluids Handling and Water Treatment Services.

Chris Pawluk

VP, Finance
As KBL’s Corporate Controller, Chris is a member of the Leadership Team and is committed to maintaining the highest level of ethical standards and transparency in all financial matters.

Chris is passionate about supporting growth-oriented, mid-market enterprises and collaborating with the entrepreneurs behind these success stories. He has a breadth of experience working with private equity-sponsored companies, small-to-medium-sized owner-operator groups, and publicly traded corporations. In addition to overseeing the finance and accounting functions, he works with the Leadership team and financial institutions to optimize the capital structure of the corporation, assists with the execution of corporate transactions, and is responsible for providing financial modeling and analysis, financial reporting, and cash flow forecasts and budgets.

Chris joined KBL in 2021 as Corporate Controller. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Alberta School of Business, a Master of Professional Accounting degree from the University of Saskatchewan Edwards School of Business and has been a professional member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta since 2009.

Mike Dirks

Director, Waste Services

Mike has been instrumental in the growth of KBL’s capacity to expand its waste management services. A varied professional background shaped Mike’s ability to design, implement and lead operational systems.

His persistence and practical approach provides a can-do attitude that gets the job done right the first time. Mike’s ability to execute operationally is illustrated through the many long-term client relationships and contracts he supports.

Nikki Eulette

Corporate Controller

Nikki Eulette is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master’s in Business Administration.

Nikki is a dynamic finance professional with approximately twenty (20) years of experience in Auditing and Accounting. Her expertise includes financial planning, analysis and reporting, external audits, project planning and execution, treasury management, consolidation, mergers and acquisitions, International Financial Reporting Standards, external financing arrangements, and Regulatory reporting. She has a passion for people development and process improvements while supporting business strategy and senior executives.  In her past roles, she made immeasurable contributions to the strategic growth of the Group of Companies and streamlined the Finance functions supported.

She is passionate about travelling, family time and has a passion for people development.

ROB GRAY

Director, Technical Services

Robert Gray has established himself as a preeminent project manager with over 30 years of experience in the energy industry. His career has been marked by roles at industry leaders, where he refined his leadership skills and steadfastly adhered to the principles of transparency, integrity, and collaboration.  Renowned for his ability to handle complex, multimillion-dollar projects, Rob ensures each venture meets the highest standards of safety, cost-efficiency, and timely completion. His professional accomplishments include:

  • Leading end-of-field life projects with zero recordable incidents, managing budgets exceeding $100 million.
  • Developing a pioneering approach to Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) liability cost estimation across multiple regions in the Americas.
  • Rigorously vetting vendors to maintain the highest standards of safety and operational excellence, reflecting his commitment to quality and detail.

Rob’s journey is a testament to the power of experience, expertise, and unwavering dedication, continually driving our company’s success and setting a benchmark in the industry.

Lance Hayman

Director, Assets

Lance has twenty-five years’ experience in the environmental industry managing remediation and reclamation projects in western Canada. He has managed and supervised the execution of upstream sites involving spills, storage tank removals, remedial activities where volumes exceeded 60,000 tonnes, linear Environmental Inspection, Erosion control, UST removals, plant demolition, and onsite remediation/reclamation.

Prior to joining KBL, Lance spent 14 years as an owner of a remediation contracting company and prior to that worked as a Contract Construction Manager for the Abandonment and Reclamation team of a large multi-national oil producer managing numerous upstream site remediation projects across western Canada.

John Hibbard

Director, Projects

Working as a leader of the KBL Projects Team, John provides business management for a variety of Environmental Services across Canada, with a focus on the contracting elements of remediation, demolition, water treatment and landfill construction services.   Mr. Hibbard has environment industry specific experience in business management, environmental contracting, sales management, proposal management, and industrial waste management.  His twenty years industry experience includes providing clients with a wide range of environment improvement solutions for various levels of government, consultants and private industry.

 John holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Environmental Management from Royal Roads University.  He currently sits on the board of the British Columbia Environment Industry Association (BCEIA).

 

Katie Oliver

Director, Corporate Development

Katie is a Certified Environmental Manager, Project Management Professional, and Certified Engineering Technologist with over 20 years’ experience in developing, managing, and implementing environmental policy, submitting regulatory applications, constructing new solar and soil treatment facilities, performing environmental regulatory compliance investigations and site assessments including sampling, hazards investigations and remediation, consulting with aboriginal communities, biologists, and archeologists, and conducting community training in environmental awareness. 

Katie has been instrumental in building KBL’s technical services division and leads our corporate development initiatives by finding innovative solutions for our customers. She is also an active member of the community being named the City of Leduc Citizen of Distinction and received national recognition for her efforts in public safety and sustainability.

Paula Thompson

Director, People and Culture
Paula has over twenty-five years experience in human resources. Her experience has mostly been at oil and gas service companies but also has been complimented by time in high tech, logistics and hospitality.
Paula is passionate about helping organizations build a values-based culture that are focused on helping employees use their skills, knowledge, and talent to create successful businesses. Health and Safety is a key component of a great culture and an important concern for KBL and is under Paula’s responsibility.
Prior to joining KBL, Paula held the roles of Senior Vice President and Vice President of People and Culture. She started her career in payroll and benefits and over the ensuing years gained experience with Total Rewards, Talent Management, Leadership Coaching, Organizational Design and Employee Relations.
Paula holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology from Acadia University, a certificate from Mt Royal University in Adult Learning and has attended leadership programs at the University of British Columbia and Ivey School of Business.
