As a northern based waste management company we are familiar with risks and challenges associated with handling and transportation of wastes in sub-arctic and arctic environments. Our transportation department is trained to carry out hauling and collection services without interrupting operations. KBL currently provides year round and seasonal services to NWT communities by means of land, air and marine transportation. Staff has appropriate certification and training for Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) training for road and rail, Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) for barge, and International Air Transport Association (IATA) for aircraft. Many of our clients operate in remote locations serviceable only by air and we routinely fly KBL personnel to site to classify and prepare waste according to IATA regulations.

Our company has a modern fleet of trucks and trailers for specific service that complement our waste management systems. This fleet of company vehicles allows for timely delivery and servicing of containers. Equipment is operated by experienced operators with specific training to ensure safe, reliable transportation of waste.

Comprehensive insurance coverage protects waste generators during performance of our services. We assume responsibility and liability for the waste at the time of loading onto transportation vehicles. This responsibility and liability is then transferred to licensed and approved receiving facilities when waste is offloaded.

The successful application of regulations concerning the transport of dangerous goods and the achievement of their objectives, are greatly dependent on the appreciation of all individuals concerned of the risks involved and on a detailed understanding of the regulations. KBL staff are certified and experienced in preparing waste for shipment to an approved receiver. We continuously perform safe and efficient means of transportation.
